A study which began last year of the relationship between exposure to chest irradiation and the subsequent risk of breast cancer. In this study, women who received radiation therapy for an infection of the breast in the 1950’s were compared to women who received a non-radiation treatment for the same kind infection in the 1950’s. The women were followed for 60 years to determine the incidence rates of breast cancer in each group.
