The client is a 33-year-old female who is admitted to the hospital for the surgical removal of a meningioma. The mass is thought to be benign but will be sent to pathology for analysis following the surgery. The client has a history of Hashimoto’s disease , and she takes levothyroxine 100 mcg PO once a day at home. She had surgery at age 13 for an open reduction internal fixation of a femur fracture she sustained in a car accident . She smoked from ages 16 to 25 approximately 1 pack per day but has not smoked since then . She drinks occasionally and denies drug use . She lives with her wife and 2-year- old child
