[Answered]: Jackson is an 18-year-old freshman college student…

Jackson is an 18-year-old freshman college student who has a history of seizure disorder for 4 years. He had been seizure free for 4 years. Jackson was brought by ambulance to the Emergency Department after having an apparent seizure in class. Oxygen was in place per nasal cannula at 2L. He was groggy and disoriented but responded appropriately to his name. A friend was with Jackson and informed the nurse that Jackson started acting strange and then his arms and legs started jerking. He and another classmate eased Jackson to the floor and put a coat under his head to keep his head from hitting the floor. The student said thrashing and jerking lasted about 1 minute. Jackson turned “bluish” and “got very sweaty” and was “foaming around his mouth”. He turned a normal color when the thrashing stopped, then started moaning. The friend knew nothing about Jackson’s medical history. He was not aware of any recent illicit drug use. Campus police informed the nurse Jackson’s parents have been notified. They live in the next town and were on their way to the ED
