Today, Maria notices that there appears to be some tension in the work lunchroom during her lunch break. Lucinda and Jack are both behaving unprofessionally and Maria suspects they may be under the influence of a substance or substances; they are laughing loudly, slurring their words and swearing. Maria feels very uncomfortable and notices that other workers seem uncomfortable and are trying to minimise their time in the lunchroom. Maria is aware that Jack drinks a lot (based on conversations in which she has heard him mention his drinking habits) and that he has previously attended work while hungover. He has also been absent more frequently in the last few weeks.Maria has not noticed Lucinda behaving oddly or taking a lot of time off recently, but she has noticed that Lucinda is seriously behind with her client notes and often does not follow up on tasks that she needs to complete. When Toni leaves the lunchroom, another co-worker approaches and says they are concerned by Lucinda and Jacks behaviour. Marias co-worker asks if they need to do anything.
